How to care for your Anitials jewellery

We want your jewellery to stay beautiful for years to come. A few simple habits can help preserve its shine and finish, whether it is made from 925 sterling silver or finished with 18-karat gold plating.

Everyday care

  • Perfume and creams: apply them before putting on your jewellery and allow them to absorb.
  • Water: remove your jewellery before showering, swimming or going into the sea. Chlorine, salt and personal care products can affect the finish.
  • Exercise and sleep: take off your jewellery to prevent knocks, scratches, perspiration and snagging.
  • Cleaning products: avoid contact with detergents, alcohol and other chemicals.

How to clean your jewellery

925 sterling silver: gently wipe with a silver-cleaning cloth suitable for the piece's finish. For dirt, use a slightly damp soft cloth and dry the piece thoroughly. Silver can naturally tarnish over time due to surface oxidation.

Gold-plated jewellery: use only a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth. Avoid silver cleaners, chemicals, brushes and abrasive polishing cloths, which can wear down the plating.

Pieces with stones, cubic zirconia, pearls or cords: do not immerse them in water. Clean carefully to protect settings and materials.

How to store your jewellery

  • Store pieces separately to prevent scratches and tangling.
  • Keep them in a soft pouch or a clean, dry jewellery box, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid leaving them in the bathroom or near heat sources.

Why can jewellery change appearance over time?

Sterling silver may tarnish through a natural reaction with the environment. In many cases, proper cleaning can restore its shine.

Gold plating gradually wears away with use and friction. Its lifespan depends on how often it is worn, exposure to water and cosmetics, and individual skin characteristics. Unlike surface tarnish on silver, worn gold plating cannot be restored by cleaning.
